Simply stated, bamboo cutting boards have an elegance and beauty not found in hardwood boards.

Bamboo is a 100% renewable eco-friendly resource and is becoming extremely popular in flooring, kitchenware, and furniture.  Bamboo is harder and denser than most hard woods, it is even harder than maple, which is the most common wood used for most cutting boards.  Bamboo quickly grows back naturally without being re-planted.  Technically, bamboo is a grass, not a tree.

Quality

Only premium grade bamboo is used in our products. The factory adheres to a very stringent protocol, for curing and processing, resulting in the highest quality product attainable.   These bamboo boards are thoroughly fine sanded resulting in a silky smooth touch.  Most bamboo products are glued with a formaldehyde glue so you should be concerned when it comes to kitchen products.  All bamboo products sold by Vermont Cutting Boards use an FDA approved, non-toxic, food grade adhesive.

Dyes

There are no artificial dyes or stains used with these bamboo prducts. Bamboo naturally has color variations, however a special heating-baking process is used to produce the dark colors found in some of the products.

Durability and Care

Do not place your bamboo board in the dishwasher as the heat and water will break down the materials. If you want a board for the dishwasher, consider either a glass or acrylic board. Proper care is quite easy with bamboo, just clean with soapy water, rinse, and dry with a kitchen towel.
